Welcome to the dyslexie-suisse.com Website which is entirely
dedicated to dyslexia in Switzerland.
Whereas in Swiss schools, most teachers are hesitant to call dyslexia by its name,
it is generally recognized that 5 to 10% percent of the school age population are
dyslexic. Furthermore, as dyslexia does not disappear with age, many adults
struggle daily with the same problems as the youngsters. How
can so big a problem be so casually disregarded? Part of the teachers’ doubts may stem
from the difference between true dyslexia (caused by the dyslexic’s own perceptual
difficulties) and “false” dyslexia (caused by poor teaching methods). But for the person
who cannot read or can’t manage to write, the problem definitely exists, no matter what
the cause is, no matter how bad the problem is.
Ron Davis, a true dyslexic, managed to teach himself to read when he was already an
adult and he did so thanks to “gifts” that he discovered to be common to many dyslexics.
He has never forgotten how painful his apprenticeship of the written language was and has
developed his method to help all those who suffer from dyslexia of any kind.
I hope that you will find some answers to your questions here on this site. There is also
a very good article about dyslexia and the Davis method on the Links and Books page. If
you have further questions, just send me an e-mail or fill out the questionnaire on the
Contact Me page.
