The following was written by a young man who had become a metal worker because he couldn’t read or write. After the program, he was able to go back to school and is now training to become an educational therapist for the handicapped.

"I started the Davis program in order to overcome my problems in reading and writing.

I began the program by using clay and making a visual model of my goal. What I liked in the program was doing visualisation exercises which allowed me to see that it’s by seeing things in your mind that you can remember them the best. As simple as the idea is, it isn’t obvious.

Ever since I was little, I had had a mental block about letters. I never liked them and I found them complicated. Then, when I made the whole alphabet with my own hands, as if re-learning them for a second time, I was surprised to see that there were so few and that they don’t really look all that mean!

Visualising them to relearn them! I would never have thought of it, but ever since I did it, I see them differently.

Having faced this problem with letters and now having a tool, a means to overcome it, has helped me a lot."

D.K. a young 25 year old, two months after his program

"I thank you for helping me at an important moment in my life. It really worked."

M.P. 14 year old young man

"In school, I am passing. In language arts, I have made a lot of progress in spelling, specially if I concentrate, thanks to the program I did with you."

M.M. 13 year old young girl

"We will get in touch with you if M. feels the need, but for the moment she is building on all she gained from the program with you!"

M.K. 8 ½ year old girl

"M. is working magnificently. He learns his vocabulary easily just by visualising it..."

M.B. 9 year old boy

E-Mail received from a client a few weeks after his program:

"Thanks to you, I got up the courage to apply for a job as a commercial engineer in telecommunications. I had seen the ad mid-June and had started my application letter, but then gave up at the idea of the responsibilities of such a position (lack of self-confidence). Then there was the (Davis) program with you and in mid-July when the same ad appeared, I sent off my letter and file. The next day, the company asked to meet me as soon as possible. At the interview, I learned that they had called me in… because of my potential and profile which correspond perfectly with their activities!"

Testimonial of the Special Needs teacher of B.P., a 15 year old young man:

"I have been seeing B.P. since the end of September 2003, one 50 minute session per week. He manifests dyslexic-type difficulties (difficulties in reading and spelling). During the evaluation, he was 3 years behind in reading: he made a lot of inversions, tripped over complex words mainly. In comprehension, he was also 3 years behind. Spelling was a particularly arduous subject for him. I was beginning his treatment when he told me that in October he was going to Geneva to follow a Davis program with Mrs. Warner. I had no problem with that, I am open and was looking forward to seeing how it worked. I had learned about the method in the book that I had read (the Gift of Dyslexia). I had found it interesting, but hadn’t thought much more about it.

When B.P. came back to see me after the October holiday, I was very surprised, to the good. He had changed a lot, made so much progress: we had been working on his written expression (poor, minimalist, and full of mistakes), but now he was writing longer, more elaborate sentences with pleasure. His spelling too had improved. He has become more self-assured, can re-read his work, can correct it more easily, and add punctuation. His reading out-loud has become more fluid... I regularly check his (spelling) words, and he gets them almost all right.

He is very happy to have had this program and personally, I can understand him. He has made real progress in so little time! It made me want to be able to offer this opportunity for progress to the other children that I work with so I started the Davis training myself (as a Facilitator) in January!"
